Motto and objectives
of the call for proposals.
The theme of this new call is about communication in the city and the expression of the city itself. “This is how the city speaks” will be the motto of the poster to be included in the design. A topic that can be approached from broader perspectives: such as literature, sociology, city planning, cinema or visual arts, which have always contributed to build our image of the city.
The objective of this Call for Posters:
- To show the capacity of Graphic Design and its professionals to address issues that concern life in cities, to do so in an attractive and thought-provoking way. provoque la reflexión.
- To visualize the chosen slogan and content, ensuring that the posters communicate a plurality of points of view that, nevertheless, converge in an exhibition that helps to understand and value the city according to the definition given in the text of this call for posters.
Admission
Each participant may only submit one poster.
The slogan “ This is how the city speaks” must appear on the poster in one of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese or English.
The content can be interpreted from a personal, social, political, critical or any other perspective that the author considers appropriate.
The organization of Madrid Grafica Abierta 2024 may exclude those works that explicitly violate fundamental human rights or that raise any kind of discrimination on the basis of sex, race, religion… or those that are subject to any complaint for plagiarism.
Posters can be uploaded from July 29th to August 30th September 15th (23h59, GMT+2, Madrid time, Spain) on the website:

Selected posters
In order to guarantee the level of the exhibition and the selection of the best posters, the organization Madrid Gráfica Abierta 2024 will check all the posters received and will select those considered most significant up to a number of 100. These 100 posters will be exhibited on street furniture in the city of Madrid and all of them at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid.
The organization will also choose the 4 posters that, in its opinion, best expose the objective of the exhibition “Thus speaks the city / Madrid Gráfica Abierta 2024”, as will be noted in the communication of the event.
