My poster for MADRID GRAFICA is a typographic poster. I developed my own display font. The letters are based on a grid, which refers to the urban grid of the city. The main inspiration was a series of paintings by Piet Mondrian (including Broadway Boogie Woogie) created in New York towards the end of the artist’s life. Paintings from this period have become a kind of canon of the city’s iconography.
